FORECASTING VULNERABILITY

Real-Time Analysis of the Distributional Incidence of Natural Disasters and Extreme Weather Events

Our real-time analyses describe the demographics of individuals forecasted to experience Natural Disasters and Extreme Weather Events and show how these populations compare to the national population. By providing this information, we hope to inform and facilitate decision-making to aid planning and relief efforts.

Our analyses combine the most recent, spatially granular data on population characteristics from the U.S. Census Bureau's Gridded Environmental Impacts Frame (EIF) with forecast information on wind speeds and storm surge inundation from the National Hurricane Center and flash flood risk from the Weather Prediction Center (WPC).
